On campus accommodations (MAKE YOUR RESERVATION HERE) have been reserved for BEACH 2002 participants. West Coast Suites has large, fully equipped apartment-like suites for 1-4 people. Or, at Gage Towers, accommodations range from single rooms with shared bathroom and lounge, to studio and one-bedroom suites with bed, bathroom, and kitchenette, many with great views of English Bay and the coastal mountains. All on-campus rooms and suites have daily housekeeping service. Prices from $35 to $106/night.

These on-campus accommodations are a 6-minute walk to the conference sessions, and a 4-minute walk to the UBC public transit bus hub with buses to downtown Vancouver and various destinations within the city and Lower Mainland. The rooms were blocked until May 20, and now have all been released, so accommodation is currently on a space-available basis.

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Best Western Sands by the Sea, which is located at 1755 Davie Street, near English Bay in downtown Vancouver. Participants must make reservations themselves at 800-661-7887 under booking #2615 BEACH2002. Cost per room per night is $149 CDN + tax. The block of rooms was held until April 25, and is now on an as-available basis (not yet full as of May 25, but likely to be filled soon).

An alternative is the Sylvia Hotel. Call 604-681-9321 for reservations.

To get to UBC from either the Best Western Sands or the Sylvia Hotel, take bus # 5 at the corner of Davie and Denman Streets to Granville Street. Transfer to bus #4 or bus #10, both of which go to the UBC bus loop. Bus drivers are usually pleased to answer any directional questions you may have.
